Utah Half Results, Where to Improve

I've compiled more data from the race.  What I've done is listed in the first column what place you were in that event.  The second column is the percentage of racers that you beat.  So, you can compare each event to your overall percent and see where your strengths and weaknesses are.  For example, Nathan beat 76% of the racers in the swim, but only beat 41% of the racers overall time.  Nathan is a fast swimmer.  Another example, Adam beat 62% of the racers overall time, but only beat 10% of the racers in T1.  Adam could have beat Peter Vidmar, if he would have just had average Transition times.  Another example, I only beat 19% of the racers on the swim, but I beat 52% of the racers overall times.  I am a bad swimmer, I need to swim more, with just an average swim time, I would have beat Adam in the race (not really, but come Ironman time, if I can improve my swim, I could stay close to Adam overall).  My strengths were my transition times and my run, weakness were swimming and biking.  Ethan's strength was his swim, beating 30% of the racers out of the water.

Lastly, if we wanted to judge our performance against others, we could label each effort as front of the pack (FOP), Middle of the pack (MOP), and Back of the pack (BOP).   I finished MOP, but I'm a BOP swimmer.  Nathan is a FOP swimmer, MOP finisher.

Nathan had the best result in any one event, he beat 76% of all racers in the swim.

Enjoy.
